Motel Policies and Procedures

GUARANTEED RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENT:

​

Guests responsible for paying must be 21 years and older.  A major credit card is required at the time of booking to guarantee the room and secure the reservation period.

​

Pursuant to credit card agreements, credit cards are not valid unless signed by the cardholder.  We will refuse an unsigned card.  We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover Card.  Your Debit or Credit Card will be pre-authorized at check-in for the full amount of your stay.  The pre-authorization will HOLD the funds until check-out, at which time the amount actually incurred during your stay will be charged.  If you change your method of payment at check-out or change the length of your stay, your bank may not post the changes to your account immediately.  The Norway Inn has no control over the policies of your bank and will not be held liable for any “insufficient funds” penalties or any other resulting fees or charges.  It is your responsibility to fully understand the manner in which your bank processes pre-authorizations and charges to your debit or credit card.

Cash (USD) payment is welcomed with a signed and pre-authorized credit card.  All Guests are required to present a valid major credit card and government issued photo identification even if Guests are planning on paying in cash upon check-out.  Personal checks, travelers checks and foreign currency are not accepted. We do not provide check cashing services.

Reservations must be cancelled forty-eight (48 hours), Eastern Standard, The Norway Inn time, prior to your arrival date, in order to avoid a cancellation fee of one (1) room night, plus tax.  Reservations will be held until 11:00 a.m. the morning following your scheduled arrival date.  If you have not checked in by that time, a NO-SHOW charge of one room night, plus tax will be charged to your credit card and the balance of your reservations will be cancelled.  The Norway Inn is not responsible for weather conditions, personal emergencies, or schedule changes. Once you have checked in for your reservation, you are responsible for payment of the entire duration of your reservation. No refunds will be issued if guest decides to shorten their stay.

CHECK-IN REQUIREMENTS:

​

Guests must be at least 21 years of age to check in at The Norway Inn.  In the interests of security and to prevent fraud, Guests are required to confirm their identity by providing their valid government issued photo identification (State driver’s license, passport, etc.) at check-in.  A valid, signed, and pre-approved credit card in the name of the Guest is also required.  We require valid contact information from the Guest making the reservations including first and last name, address, phone number, and signature.  The names of all Guests occupying the room must be registered.  Information regarding your license plate/car description is also gathered at check-in for security. All Personal Guest information remains confidential.

PLEASE BE ADVISED: AT THE TIME OF CHECK IN, A $100.00 INCIDENTAL HOLD WILL BE TAKEN FROM YOUR CARD (in addition to the cost of your reservation). THIS HOLD WILL BE REFUNDED IN FULL UPON A CLEAN INSPECTION OF YOUR RESERVED ROOM(S) AFTER CHECK OUT. IN THE EVENT ANY DAMAGES OCCUR TO THE ROOM OR MOTEL PROPERTY, EXCESSIVE CLEANING IS REQUIRED, OR ITEMS ARE MISSING FROM THE ROOM, YOU WILL BE CHARGED THE COST OF SAID DAMAGES AND FEES, WHICH MAY EQUAL MORE OR LESS THAN THE $100.00 HOLD TAKEN FROM YOUR CARD AT THE TIME OF CHECK-IN. IF LESS, YOU WILL BE REFUNDED THE DIFFERENCE TO THE CREDIT CARD ON FILE. IF MORE, YOU WILL BE CHARGED THE DIFFERENCE TO THE CREDIT CARD ON FILE. Note: We will make all attempts to contact you should we be required to keep/charge any fees for damages/excessing cleaning/missing items. These charges may not take place on the same day as check-out, as an accurate assessment will take place prior to any additional fees being charged.

MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY:

​

The maximum occupancy is Queen Room (2), King (2), and Adjoining Room(s) (4).  If you exceed the number of guests allowed, you will be required to rent another guest room for proper accommodations or vacate the motel.

CHECK-IN TIME:      3:00 pm. 

CHECK-OUT TIME:  11:00 am.

Guest room rental period expires at 11:00 am and an additional day charge, plus tax will apply for late checkout.

ROOM KEYS:

​

Room keys are issued to the registered Guest(s).  No room keys will be issued to youth under 21 at any time.   If you have lost your key and require a duplicate, there is a fee and ID is required.  Please return all room keys to the Front Desk at checkout or drop into the mailbox outside of the office door.

CHECK-OUT PROCEDURE:

​

Check-out time is 11 a.m. Please return room key(s) and check-out at the Front Desk so that housekeeping may begin cleaning your room as soon as possible.  If checking out before the office is open at 8:00 am, please return your room key(s) in the mailbox located next to the office door.  If you require a later check-out, please contact the Front Desk prior to the day of your departure and we will do our best to accommodate your request.  Guests who check out of the Motel after 11:00 a.m. are subject to a late departure fee.

UPON A CLEAN INSPECTION OF YOUR RESERVED ROOM(S) AFTER CHECK OUT, THE $100.00 INCIDENTAL CHARGE TAKEN FROM YOUR CARD AT THE TIME OF CHECK-IN WILL BE REFUNDED. RATES:

​

All rates are quoted in United States currency, plus tax.  Rates may increase without notice.  Rates as advertised on The Norway Inn website or any other website or promotional material are subject to change at any time and may increase or decrease at the Motel’s discretion.  Rates are based on double occupancy for Queen and King rooms, Adjoining Room(s) (1-4 occupancy) and are subject to availability.  Please note, our small suites are still being renovated and are currently unavailable. If you exceed the maximum number of Guests allowed, you will be asked to rent another Guest room for proper accommodations or vacate the Motel.

POLICIES:

​

100% SMOKE-FREE IN ALL ROOMS:  Please keep a 25-foot distance from all buildings.

The Norway Inn is a 100% Smoke-Free in all rooms.  For safety and assurance that our facility is not exposed to items or actions that create an odor, which is unhealthy and objectionable to our Guests and staff, and that is difficult to remove from the air, carpet, walls, and furniture, smoking/use of substances/devices including (but not limited to) tobacco, marijuana, illegal drugs, e-cigarettes, vape pens, vaping, cartridges containing the liquid of nicotine, hookahs, incense, cooking, cigars, candle burning, the use or diffusing of patchouli oil or other strong-smelling plant-based essential oils or synthetic products is strictly prohibited inside any of our buildings (THIS INCLUDE SITTING/STANDING IN DOORWAYS, OR SITTING/STANDING IN FRONT OF ANY ROOM OR BUILDING WINDOWS OR DOORS that is less than 25 feet from building -Doing so will be treated as smoking inside the facility and will be subject to a $250 fine).  Guests are encouraged to notify Front Desk staff immediately if they smell cigarette, marijuana, or other objectionable odors.   This policy is not intended to stop people from smoking, but to regulate where they smoke and how it affects others.  Outdoors, and a minimum of 25 feet away from the building, is the Designated Smoking Area.  Any Guest found to be in violation of these rules will be accessed a $250 fine and may be evicted with no refund. Disposal receptacles are placed throughout the motel grounds where smoking is permitted. We ask that you do not put butts in our planters, or on the ground. Improper disposal may also lead to additional fines.

CANDLE, INCENSE, ESSENTIAL OILS, AIR FRESHENERS:

​

Candles, incense, and essential oils (diffusing, vaporizing, air fresheners, etc.) are prohibited.  These items and activities will be treated as smoking, a $250 fine assessed, and the Guest may be evicted with no refunds.

COOKING, COOKING APPLIANCES, COMBUSTIBLES, OR FIREWORKS:

​

The safety of our Guests, staff, and this facility is extremely important to us.  Preparation of food in Guest rooms, by any type of cooking appliances, is prohibited, except by motel provided appliances (e.g. Microwaves, coffee makers).  A minimum fee of $250.00 will be charged for cooking in a room, including, but not limited to hot plates, toaster ovens, water heaters, rice cookers, combustibles, open flame, barbecue grills, burners, heating appliances, or any other item intended for cooking.  Open fires, flames or cooking grills, either charcoal or gas, and fireworks are not allowed anywhere on Motel property. A microwave is available 24 hours/day for all registered Guests to use in our community room (Room #35).  Coffee or hot chocolate is also available twenty-four (24) hours/day in the community room (Room #35).

ROOM #35 – COMMUNITY ROOM – COFFEE - MICROWAVE – REFRIGERATOR - ICE:

​

Coffee and hot chocolate is available to all registered guests 24 hours a day.  If using the Refrigerator, please label all items with a date and name.  The Norway Inn is not responsible for any lost or stolen items that have been placed in the community refrigerator.  A microwave and ice buckets are provided for use to all registered Guests 24 hours a day.  We ask that you refrain from microwaving any pungent food as the odor may be offensive to other Guests and is difficult to remove from the room.  Most commercially prepared food intended for the microwave is okay; however, microwaving your fresh caught trout is not allowed.

RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE:

​

The Norway Inn is privately owned and operated.  We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason(s) that does not violate Federal or State laws.  The Norway Inn has a zero-tolerance policy for any Guest who does not abide by the Policies and Procedures written herein.  In addition, The Norway Inn will refuse service or evict a Guest for any of the following reasons:

  • refusal or failure to pay for accommodation

  • under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other intoxicating substance and acts in a disorderly fashion as to disturb the peace of other Guests or is not in compliance with state liquor laws

  • Guest is unable to properly supervise their children at all times

  • seeks to use the Motel for an unlawful purpose

  • seeks to bring into the Motel: an unlawfully possessed firearm; including an explosive or hazardous or toxic substance, that is unlawful to possess and that may be dangerous to other persons

  • destroys, damages, defaces, or threatens harm to Motel property

  • causes or permits persons to exceed the maximum allowable occupancy of room

  • refuses to abide by the reasonable standards or Policies and Procedures established by The Norway Inn for the operation and management of our Motel

  • threatens, harasses, intimidates or acts in a disorderly fashion toward guests or motel employees.

QUIET HOURS:

​

10:00 p.m. to 8 a.m. If you become aware of a disruptive Guest, please contact the Front Desk staff immediately by room phone or in person. Televisions, music, voices, or other devices must be kept at a respectful low level at all times.  Doors should be opened and closed quietly.

​

​

VISITORS:

​

No visitors after 10:00 p.m. All Visitors must notify the Front Desk immediately upon their arrival.  Visitors must be accompanied by the registered Guest at all times.  Visitors are not allowed to use Guest amenities including the community room  (#35), or WIFI.  As a registered Guest, you are responsible for your visitor at all times.

CONNECTING ROOM POLICY:

​

Connecting rooms are subject to availability and can only be booked directly through the Motel.  Please call the Motel directly to discuss available configurations.  Guests with a pet requesting a connecting room will be assessed a pet fee for both rooms.

GROUP RESERVATIONS:

​

Please contact The Norway Inn for inquiries about group reservations and room blocks via e-mail or by calling our office.

HOUSEKEEPING - DO-NOT DISTURB - ACCESS TO ROOMS:

​

We strive to provide all of our Guests with an exceptionally clean and safe Motel experience.  If staying for more than one night, we will make your bed, provide clean towels and sheets upon request.  Your comfort is important to us.  Contact the front desk to request extra towels or amenities. Housekeeping is provided between the hours of 8 am - 3 pm and a detailed log is maintained on each room and linen.   If staying for more than three (3) nights we will provide a full room cleaning on the fourth day.  Please do not cover beds with personal items during housekeeping hours. Our Housekeeping Staff will honor the “DO NOT DISTURB” door hanger indicating that the room is occupied.  The Housekeeping Staff is required to enter the room at subsequent times to clean the room, check for safety, and verify the condition of the room.  Management reserves the right to enter a room with a known status of “DO NOT DISTURB” for reasonable purposes, such as an emergency, housekeeping, maintenance, verify that the room, its furnishings, and mechanical equipment are intact, or to address or prevent a violation of our Motel Policies and Procedures. In the event of suspected illegal activity, management reserves the right to summon law enforcement to aid in eviction.  The right to privacy ends when a Motel Policies and Procedures Rule is broken.  Law enforcement will be granted immediate access to Motel property and rooms of evicted Guests.

This Motel is 100 % SMOKE FREE in all rooms:

We do not permit smoking tobacco, marijuana, illegal drugs, e-cigarettes, vape pens, vaping, cartridges containing the liquid of nicotine, hookahs, incense, cooking, cigars, candle burning, the use or diffusing of patchouli oil or other strong-smelling plant-based essential oils or synthetic products in our facility.  Candles, incense, essential oils (diffusing, vaporizing, air fresheners, etc.) are prohibited.  These items and activities will be treated as smoking, a $250 fine assessed, and the Guest may be evicted with no refunds. Rooms are rented to Guests in appropriate condition without any prohibited odor.  Housekeeping and Front Desk staff are trained and skilled in identifying the odors from prohibited items.  If our investigation concludes that you have smoked in your room, cooked, or brought a prohibited item into our facility, you will be fined, and evicted without any refund.

PETS:

​

The Norway Inn does not allow pets in our rooms. Any person found in violation of this rule will immediately be assessed a $250 fine and will be asked to leave the premises, without refund.

CHILDREN:

​

Well behaved children of all ages are welcomed.   Children aged 12 and under stay for free when sharing a room with one or more paying adult(s), using existing bedding.  As the parents, guardians, or chaperones of children you are personally and legally responsible for and must supervise them at all times.  For safety reasons, please do not leave children unattended in Guest rooms or allow them to roam the Motel property unsupervised.  If a child is reported to be unsupervised or creating a disturbance in a Motel room or on the premises the parents, guardians, or chaperones will be contacted, and the family will be asked to leave the premises.

LOST & FOUND POLICY:

​

The Norway Inn assumes no liability for lost, misplaced, stolen, or damaged valuables or belongings. If you discover that you have left behind something of value to you, please call us immediately and we will try to assist you in locating your lost item. Any item, with the exception of perishable items, underwear, and miscellaneous toiletries left behind by our Guests and found after departure by Housekeeping will be collected and kept in a secure location for collection by the owner for up to fourteen (14) days. Reasonable effort will be made to notify the Guest that an item has been found.  The Norway Inn is not responsible for incorrect contact information or full cellphone mailboxes. We would be happy to return your lost item(s) to you by United States Postal Service.  Sorry, no UPS or FED EX deliveries.  Please be sure your mailing address is accurate, as The Norway Inn assumes no responsibility for incorrect mailing information. Your credit card will be charged packaging and postage, plus a $10.00 handling fee.  A separate receipt will be mailed to you.  The Norway Inn is not responsible for any item lost or misdirected during shipment by the United States Postal Service.  Please contact the USPS Customer Service Department at 1-800-275-8777.

ALCOHOL POLICY:

​

Registered Guests must comply with the State of Maine Legal Drinking Age of 21 to consume Alcohol on these premises.  Any Guest who appears to be intoxicated in the common areas of the Motel will be asked to return to their room or be asked to leave the premises.

IN CASE OF EMERGENCY OR FIRE:

​

IN THE EVENT OF FIRE, EXIT YOUR ROOM IMMEDIATELY, CALL 911 AND NOTIFY THE FRONT DESK.

NO IN-ROOM PARTY:

​

The Norway Inn enforces a No In-Room Party Policy to ensure we can protect the Motel and our Guests at all times.  No parties, loud disturbances and/or noise-nuisance are allowed or tolerated on these premises. In the event of a disturbance, one polite request (warning) will be given to reduce the noise.  If our request is not followed, the Guest will be asked to leave the Motel without refund.   Registered Guest(s) is responsible for all persons visiting.  Non-Registered visitors are only permitted until 10:00 P.M.  If registered guest is found with “additional people” not listed on the Guest Registration Form after 10:00 P.M. your stay will be considered a party.  You will be ordered to vacate the premises without refund and a Party Disturbance Fee will be applied.

FREE WIFI ACCESS:

​

Access to our WIFI is free for our registered Guests.  The Motel WIFI access code is subject to change without notice.  WIFI signals are subject to change without notice depending on the room’s location, the status of our WIFI-equipment, and interference from other local wireless signals.  The Norway Inn assumes no liability for Guest use.

ENFORCEMENT:

​

All staff is trained and required to respond to potential violations of our Motel Policies and Procedures. Guests who refuse to abide by the reasonable standards and policies established by The Norway Inn for safety of all Guests, staff, owners, property, and the operation and management of the Motel will be evicted, with no refund.  In addition to the room charge, a minimum $250.00 cleaning fee per room will be charged for infraction(s) of our Motel Policies and Procedures.

TERMS & CONDITIONS:

The Norway Inn makes its best efforts to ensure that all the information that appears on its website is accurate.  However, no warranty, expressed or implied, is given that the information provided on this website is error free.  The Norway Inn does not accept liability for any errors and/or omissions, and reserves the right to change the information published at any time and without notice.

ILLNESS AND EPIDEMICS:

The Norway Inn reserves the right to refuse accommodations to a Guest arriving with a contagious disease.  In cases where sickness occurs during the stay, please notify the Front Desk staff.  In the case of serious sickness, you may be requested to receive appropriate health care from a nearby healthcare facility.  During epidemics we are entitled to employ precautionary measures within our judgment or as required by local authorities.  We may charge you a room cleaning fee as we deem appropriate under the circumstances.

INFESTATION:

​

The cleanliness of our rooms is extremely important to our Guests.  If you bring any infestation into your room or onto our Motel premises, we may charge you for any and all costs and expenses, including immediate or urgent response requirements and loss of room revenue, that we deem necessary to address the infestation.

PARKING AT OWN RISK:

​

All vehicle(s) must be listed on the registration at check-in.  Parking for registered Guest(s) is free.  All vehicles are parked at the risk of the owner.  The Norway Inn shall not assume liability or responsibility for any vehicle, occupants, or contents while operated or parked on the Motel property.  If a vehicle is left in the Motel parking lot after the Guest has departed without the written consent of the Motel, the Motel reserves the right to have the vehicle towed at the owner’s expense.  No vehicle repairs on Motel premises. We recommend locking your vehicle.

DAMAGE AND/OR THEFT OF MOTEL PROPERTY:

​

You are liable for any damage howsoever caused (whether by the deliberate, negligent, or reckless act) to the room(s), Motel premises or property caused by you or any person in your party whether or not staying at the Motel during your stay.  The Norway Inn reserves the right to retain your credit card and/or debit card details as presented at registration and charge or debit the credit /debit card such amounts as it shall in its sole discretion deem necessary to compensate or make good the cost or expenses incurred or suffered by The Norway Inn as a result of the aforesaid.  Should this damage come to light after the Guest has departed, we reserve the right and you hereby authorize us to charge your credit or debit card for any damage incurred to your room or the Motel property during your stay, including and without limitation for all property damage, missing or damaged items, smoking fee, cleaning fee, Guest compensation, etc.  We will make every effort to rectify any damage internally prior to contracting specialist to make the repairs, and therefore will make every effort to keep any costs that the Guest would incur to a minimum.

GUEST DAMAGE OF ROOMS OR PREMISES:

​

Guest Rooms found with waste strewn around, in complete disorder, and/or “trashed” will be subject to maintenance deep cleaning fee, administration fee and/or third-party fees. Damage to rooms, fixtures, furnishing and equipment including the removal of electronic equipment, towels, artwork, etc. will be charge at 120% of full and new replacement value plus any shipping and handling charges. Any damage to Motel property, whether accidental or willful, is the responsibility of the registered Guest for each particular room.  Any costs associated with repairs and/or replacement will be charged to the credit card of the registered Guest.  In extreme cases, criminal charges will be pursued. Damage to mattresses and linen including towels, mattress pads, sheets, bedspreads, blankets resulting from the use of body oils, make-up, shoe-polish, etc. will result in a charge for the special cleaning, repair or replacement of the damaged article.

DAMAGE OR TAMPERING WITH FIRE DETECTION SYSTEMS/FIRE-FIGHTING EQUIPMENT:

The Norway Inn reserves the right to take action against any Guest or visitor found to have tampered or interfered with any detection equipment throughout the Motel, including detector heads in public areas, Guest rooms, break glass points and fire extinguishers.  Guests or visitors found to have tampered with any fire detection or fire-fighting equipment will be charged with any costs incurred by the Motel due to their actions and will be evicted from the Motel.  Depending on the severity of the Guest actions, law enforcement may become involved at the Motel’s discretion.  Should the fact that firefighting or detection equipment having been tampered with comes to light after the Guest has departed, we reserve the right and you hereby authorize us to charge your credit or debit card for any damage incurred to your room or the Motel property during your stay, including and without limitation for all property damage, missing or damaged items, smoking fee, cleaning fee, Guest compensation, etc.

CHANGES OR MODIFICATION TO THE MOTEL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES:

The Norway Inn reserves the right to amend, modify, change, cancel, vary or add to these Motel Policies/House Rules or the arrangements and content featured on our Motel website at any time without prior notice.  Please check our website regularly for updates to Motel Policies and Procedures. Any modification to these Motel Policies and Procedures that occurs before your departure is considered a part of your reservations agreement with us. A copy of these Motel Policies and Procedures is located on our website and available from Front Desk staff upon request.
